Topic Research: Matsya, Ganga, Kerala
I think there are multiple avenues for me to explore flood mythology in India. One of them is through Matsya, another is through Ganga, and another is through Kerala, a state in India, which not only has flood mythology associated with it, but also has problems with flooding.
Matsya:
Matsya is a deity who takes the form of a fish. He asks for the protection of a man who performs religious ceremonies on the edge of a river. He offers to save him from a future deluge. The rain comes, and the man has built a boat because the fish told him to. Source1 Source2
Ganga:
Ganga is the personification of the Ganges river. the creation of the Ganges has a story in the Ramayana that could be interesting to retell. It is not explicitly a flood myth, but could be cool to explore. Source
Kerala:
Kerala is a state in India. It is a very wet part of India, and in 2018 it dealt with some significant flooding. I think there my be a story there. There is also mythology related to Kerala, so that could be a source for a story. Source1 Source2
